Asthmanauts are GO!
Asthmanauts was first created in 2011 with the purpose of producing a booklet for children to improve their understanding of their asthma. With the help of children, parents, the Whittington Hospital and the talented designer, Rich Sheehan, we created Asthmanauts, an interactive booklet that involves the child becoming an “Asthmanaut” to defeat the evil space villains with the help from Captain Blue (Salbutamol) and Commander Brown (beclomethasone).
The booklets have already been in use and tested across two hospitals with positive reception from parents, children and health care professionals with results published at the RCPCH Conference in 2018 (1). In addition the booklet won the Child Health Promise Prize and has been endorsed by NHS England, London (formerly Healthy London Partnership, HLP) who will be using the booklet as part of their asthma toolkit.
With the help and support from Public Health Camden, Public Health Islington and HLP we are currently launching our newest version which has been updated with fun additions and new characters.
All the promotional tools and booklets are available to download for free on our website for your own launch. If you would like more information or help with the launch, Asthmanauts HQ is ready and waiting.
